How to Order and Terms and Conditions

chuFFers.com is purely internet based, so I’m afraid you can’t visit us. If you do have any questions please e-mail us.

It’s all change! After nearly two years of handling orders via e-mail, I’ve now implemented a Secure Buy-online Ordering system, secured by VeriSign. This will help you quickly and easily to order the items you require, without having to type in all the numbers and descriptions. The other major advantage is that it means you can now pay safely and securely with Credit or Debit Cards, using the popular PayPal secure payment mechanism. You don’t need an account and you just follow the steps to place your order from my site. It really couldn’t be simpler, or safer. It also has the added bonus of me never getting, viewing or holding any of your card details. These are only ‘seen’/processed by PayPal.

Placing an order - As the Shop Online is fully integrated, some of the pages do not yet have their ‘Add to Basket’ Button. Therefore, if you can not complete your order, please e-mail me. I can still process your order via e-mail.

Payment - If you use the Secure Shop Online buttons, I can accept Credit/Debit Cards. Alternatively, you can pay by Postal Order, Bankers Draft, Cheque or Direct Transfer to Bank Account. Goods will be sent when funds have cleared. Overseas purchasers, I can only accept Credit/Debit card payments.

Post & Packing Costs - All prices are shown without packing and postage costs. If you purchase via the Shop Online buttons, the post & packing is added automatically. The P&P costs are based on individual items. If you are purchasing muliple items via Shop Online, I will look to reduce the P&P costs, if requested. The review would be completed, after the order has completed. If you are ordering via e-mail, I will quote the P&P. Goods will be sent either via 1st or 2nd Class post, or for large packages, via 3-4 Royal Mail Standard Parcels. This does not include Recorded or Insured delivery. If this is required, additional payment will be required and you should contact me before purchase. All goods will be well wrapped, with lots of bubble wrap and parcel packaging. The approximate costs for P&P are shown below, just as a guide....

    Track and very small items - 1st class post to £1.00

    Single Loco, Coach or Wagon and small items - £3.50

    Multiple Locos, Coaches, or Wagons - £5.00

    Train Packs - £5.00

    Train Sets - £10.00

    Large Orders - Please e-mail for a very reasonable discounted quote

Delivery Times - As soon as your funds clear, the goods will be dispatched. If items are not currently available, they will go on back-order. They will then be despatched as soon as they come in. I’m afraid I can not tell you exactly when this will be, it’s all dependent on availability from Hornby. I will notify you if stock is not available and give you the option to cancel or wait. Goods usually get despatched within in a week of funds clearing. If stock has to come in on a delivery it could take longer. Please allow 28 days delivery, this length of time is very rare.

Price Changes - Price changes by the manufacturer are normally imposed twice a year. That said, they may happen at any time and apply to any item. Other reasons for price changes....
Manufacturers Price Changes - If you order an item and pay for it and I then find that I have had to pay more for the item, due to manufacturers price increases, I reserve the right to request a small uplift payment to cover this cost. I have to do this as the margins are so very small. If you are not happy to pay the small uplift charge, I will refund your payment, and order canceled.
Postal Prices - If you order an item and pay for it and I then find that I postal prices have increased, prior to me shipping the item,  I reserve the right to request a small uplift payment to cover this cost. I have to do this as the margins are so very small. If you are not happy to pay the small shipping uplift charge, I will refund your payment, and the order will be canceled.
Pricing Errors - If I make a mistake with pricing of item or shipping charges, due to human error. (...we all make mistakes from time to time!) I reserve the right to request a small uplift payment to cover this cost. I have to do this as the margins are so very small. If you are not happy to pay any differences due to this error, I will refund your payment, and the order will be canceled.
Final Note on Price Changes.... I don’t like changing prices after an order has been placed. It is a rare occurrence, and I will only do it as a very last resort. In some cases I can even accept the loss and will not even tell you I have done so, but this just can’t be done in all cases. It’s only ever a last resort. I will e-mail you with an reasons behind a change and if you are not happy to pay any proposed increase, I will refund your payment and close the order.

Stock Availability - Please note the website is based on the years entire range, as published by Hornby, at the beginning of the year. As we progress through the year, new items get released and some older ones become discontinued. Therefore, stock availability is fluid. I will inform you if an item is discontinued, and offer a refund or suggest an alternative that might be acceptable. If an item is available but Hornby have no stock, then the item goes on back order and will be delivered as soon as they get stock in. I will not be able to give a delivery date on such items. The same is true for items that are new releases. They go on back order and fulfilled as soon as stock comes in, again, not delivery dates can be given on such items.

Returns Policy - Here at chuFFers.com we want you to be totally happy with your purchase. We therefore offer a ‘no quibble’ 7 day return policy. As long as the goods are returned, with an explanation, with all original, supplied packaging and are unused. (we are always looking to improve our service) in the condition they were supplied, we will refund your money (not including postage costs).
